It
was designed as a one-week program, culminating
in students’ meeting with the school counselors
to choose classes for the next year. In addition
to the lesson plans for teachers for each of the
five days, there are four handouts (that can be
used independently, in different situations):
- Rating
Your Foundation Skills (4 pgs.):
Students rate themselves on the 17 Foundation
Skills. These are the skills all workers
need in the 21st century (described at
the Career Key website, and in the author’s
book, Job Skills for the 21st Century,
A Guide for Students).
- Student
Direction Sheet (1 pg.): Takes
students, step-by-step from access ing
the Career Key website, and taking the
Career Key survey, through exiting the
website.
- Holland
Personality Types (1
pg.): Describes Holland’s six personality
types.
- Student
Review Handout (1 pg.): Students
name “three jobs you might want in the
future,” list five Foundation Skills
in which they are strong, and three they want
to improve; and, based on their work, they
list the classes they “need to take
next year.”
