What is a User Code?
A four-letter/number code is necessary to login to take the test. You also need it to return to your test results. It is not case-sensitive; you can use either lower- or upper-case letters.
Where do I get a User Code?
- You receive one when you pay to take the Career Key test, or
- You receive one from a person or organization (e.g,. school, college, career center) that purchased multiple tests through our group purchase program.
If you purchase a test, you receive a User Code twice from our payment vendor SWREG:
- On the screen confirming your payment, and
- In an email SWREG sends to you.
After getting a User Code, how do I take the test?
Click on "Login" at the top of the home page, then, you will be prompted to enter your User Code.
If you are using a code purchased by a group, you will be further prompted to enter a User Name (your email address) and Password. If you forget your password, click on "Forgot password?" and we will email it to you. Check your Spam folder if you don't see it soon.
Browser Settings: (i.e. Internet Explorer) how do I ensure the test works on my computer?
Javascript must be enabled on your Internet browser for the Career Key test to work properly and save career/major selections. Internet Explorer's settings, especially in schools, may need adjustment. A warning will appear during the test about your browser settings, with a link to instructions on how to fix it. Also try using a different browser like Chrome or Firefox that are less likely to have this problem.
How do I make a group purchase of multiple test-takings?
Visit this page for details. You can also visit our Store to make Group purchases for any of our tests.
How do I return to my test results after I've logged out?
Click on “Login” at the top of the home page, then you will be prompted to enter your User Code.
If you are using a code purchased by a group, you will be further prompted to enter a User Name and Password. You will automatically be sent to the page where you last ended your test session.

You and anyone you give your User Code to. If you are part of a group, your Group Administrator will also have access. Please see Career Key's privacy statement.
How do I access my group administration account?
Group administrators log into to the Career Key website (top right) using their group user code. Click on "Activate Group Admin Account" below the "Returning Users" column on the right. Enter your email address and choose a password.
Who is SWREG?

Troubleshooting
My User Code does not work.
User Codes expire 12 months after you take the test. If you are within that 12 months and have this problem, please email customer support with your order number (U[number]) or email address used to purchase the test.
I never received an email from the payment vendor SWREG with my User Code.
Check your email filters to make sure the SWREG email was not mistakenly filtered out.
If you use PayPal and give SWREG a different email address than the one you have on file with PayPal, you will not receive your SWREG email.
Email customer support with your order number (U[number]) or email address used to purchase the test.
I received an email from SWREG saying that my order could not be processed.
SWREG handles our purchasing process. If your credit card is expired or you do not provide up to date contact information, your order will not be processed unless you contact SWREG to make other arrangements.
I lost my User Name and/or Password.
Log into The Career Key using your group's test code, under Returning Users click on "Forgot password?" and we will email it to you. Check your Spam folder if you don't see it soon.
I was stopped from completing the test, either I received an error or my browser unexpectedly closed.
You should see a warning pop up from Career Key that your browser settings need to have "Javascript enabled." Follow the instructions for how to fix it, or login again using a different browser. Any test progress up to the career/major selection process will be saved.
If you do not see your question answered here, please email customer support. We make every effort to respond within one business day.

How do I get Adobe Reader? Just click here to download to your computer. It is free.
How do I download an ePublication I purchase?
When you receive your payment confirmation screen from our payment vendor SWREG, you will receive a link to click on to download your ePublication. You will also receive an email from SWREG containing the link.
What do I do if I cannot download an ePublication?
Email customer support with your order number (U[number]) or email address used to purchase the ePublication and we will provide it to you via email.
Is it safe to download my ePublication?
Yes. You won't download anything harmful, like a computer virus.
How do I read an ePublication?
Two ways. First, you can read it on your computer; all you need is Adobe Reader. If you buy an e-book, you will be able to navigate around the book by clicking various links, just as if you were on the Internet. It will also have links to key websites. Or, second, you can print your publication out and read it that way.
Can I really print out my book or document?
Yes, as long as you follow the guidelines. With most e-books on the market, this is not permitted or possible. We trust that you will not do any unauthorized copying -- violating the copyright. With Career Key publications, you are permitted to make individual, personal copies -- in some cases, more. Read the "Terms and Agreement" guidelines at the time of purchase or visit our "Purchase Agreement."
Is it safe to pay online?
Yes. The "https" in your browser shows that our payment vendor SWREG's website is encrypted to the highest standard. SWREG is a subsidiary of Digital River, one of the largest e-commerce providers in the world. At the bottom of your ordering page, you will see the padlock symbol and confirmation of SWREG's daily security monitoring through McAgee and Geotrust.
What are the advantages of ePublications?
There are several. You can buy and receive them immediately with your computer; no wait for shipping. You can view them wherever you wish from a laptop computer. The e-books have links that help you navigate and access valuable websites on the Internet. They are written by a respected author in the career counseling field. Your purchase supports the Career Key website, a free public service that daily helps thousands of people. And, unlike most e-books or e-documents available, you can print out Career Key ePublications.
